Will the US be ready for avian flu?
A top researcher at the University of Kansas doubts that the United States’ efforts to monitor the spread of the bird flu are doing much good. Apparently, the US government primarily tests waterfowl in Alaska, and A. Townsend Peterson doesn’t think that’s good enough - that they’re ignoring other possible points of entry. I find this more than a little scary. I would hope our government would be on top of something like this.
