WHAT IT IS
An EcoDance Residency is a peer-to-peer lab in which facilitator/consultants lead participants through the steps it takes to create a sustainable career path.
We cover these basic steps:
• an overview of history and current issues facing artists
• participant research and profile sharing
• planning and designing phases
• draft presentation and feedback forum
• group experimentation
• implementation (optional)
• art making (optional)
WHY WE DO IT
We hope to facilitate entrepeneurship and activism with other creatives like ourselves by sharing the concepts and skills involved in the sustainable career paths that we have created for ourselves. It was worth it, so we help others do it too.
WHEN IT HAPPENS
A residency happens when, for example, a university integrates our residency into a department calendar year. Or when a college group hires EcoDance to participate in a multi-university conference. Or when an organization invites us to visit an arts event or festival.
WHO IS INVOLVED
That's us, Sarah Haas and Hallie Aldrich.
The Sponsoring Organization
The residency is sponsored by a university department, arts community, foundation, or private party.
The sponsor hires us to work with dancers and other creatives: visual/media artists, musicians, performers and others.
HOW IT WORKS
We visit you, we work with you, and we keep in touch. To see a detailed sample prospectus, please refer to the info index.
WHERE IT HAPPENS
The sponsor dictates the location of the residency.
Sometimes we self-produce a residency. We list our events on this website.
BOOK A RESIDENCY
Tell your professor, department head, or school dean about us.
Or produce a residency yourself by finding a community sponsor through a grant, foundation or other program.
